Buying a house in Spain

There are many procedures for buying a home in Spain if you are a foreigner. It´s important to be connect with a lawyer if you want avoid frrequent risks and mistakes.

Any foreigner can buy a house in Spain, but they will have to take an extra step before the purchase. Is´s easy, and usually there is no problema at all.

The first thing you should do is get in the AEAT, Agencia Tributaria or Policia, a NIE number, which is the basic identification number that all foreigners must obtain once they enter the country. If you’re from an EU country,  you can get a temporary NIE number, for this individuals who do not want to live in Spain or a resident NIE if you are going to live here going to stay in the country for a long period of time. 

We recommend that the person who intends to acquire a property, should open a current bank account in Spain (even if they are not going to live in the country). So that they will be able to rope the economic means of paying the price of the sale and the corresponding taxes. This step is not mandatory, but it will make the process much easier.
